Woodbridge resident Elizabeth Carol Powell, 64, was charged following an investigation after a Good Samaritan came to the aid of a 2-year-old boy who was found on Wednesday afternoon and alerted the authorities.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, at around 2 p.m. on Jun 26, officers were called to the 11700 block of Chanceford Drive in Woodbridge to investigate reports of the found child.

Investigators say it was determined that Powell, a family member, left the child alone, and the boy was later found in the area outside unsupervised.

He was uninjured and later released to "known parties," according to the department.

Powell was arrested and charged with felony child neglect. Her court date was pending as of Thursday, June 27.
